PROPOSAL

2023

This project aims to transform an existing home in the Héroes de Padierna neighborhood, Tlalpan, into a group of medical offices, so that the space offers comfort, privacy and a healthy environment for both patients and health professionals. The façade is redesigned using wood-cement boards, integrating a ventilated façade structure that improves the thermal and energy efficiency of the building, which contributes to an environment suitable for medical and community use.

The intervention in this house in Héroes de Padierna seeks to adapt the internal spaces of the house to the needs of a set of medical offices. The interior layout was reorganized to create private consultation areas and a comfortable and accessible waiting room, maintaining the residential scale of the place and respecting the quiet nature of the area. The façade was renovated to respond to both aesthetic needs and climate comfort requirements, using a combination of natural and technological materials. The use of wood-cement boards in a ventilated façade allows the building to maintain a warm appearance, respectful of the residential environment, while improving the thermal efficiency of the construction.

The choice of wood-cement panels for the façade not only contributes to the visual appearance of the building, but also provides significant thermal benefits. This ventilated façade creates a layer of air between the panel and the wall, acting as a natural insulator that reduces heat gain inside. This system helps maintain a constant and pleasant temperature, which is essential for user comfort and reduces the need for air conditioning, thus promoting lower energy consumption.

Wood-cement material is durable, moisture-resistant and does not require constant maintenance, characteristics that favor its use in a building with intensive use such as a group of medical offices. In addition, the appearance of this material, which combines the natural texture of wood with the durability of cement, blends harmoniously with the surroundings, respecting the residential character of the neighborhood.

  1. Resource Optimization and Adaptation of Existing Spaces: The conversion of a home into medical offices is a regenerative intervention that maximizes resources, avoiding demolition and reusing the existing structure. This approach reduces the environmental impact of construction and promotes the use of spaces in low-density residential areas.

  2. Improved Environmental Comfort: The ventilated façade with wood-cement panels provides thermal insulation, resulting in a comfortable and stable interior environment. This is especially important in a medical context, where the comfort and well-being of patients and staff are a priority. The reduction in the use of artificial air conditioning systems also represents energy savings and a lower carbon footprint.

  3. Contribution to the Local Urban Fabric: This project provides accessible and nearby health services for the residents of the neighborhood, strengthening the community's service infrastructure and avoiding unnecessary travel to other areas of Tlalpan. By doing so, it fosters social cohesion and promotes activity in the area, providing economic and social benefits to the residents of Héroes de Padierna.

The transformation of this house into medical offices in Héroes de Padierna is an example of a regenerative intervention that optimizes resources and minimizes environmental impact, while offering essential services to the community. With a design that integrates efficient and sustainable materials, and a ventilated façade system that improves interior comfort, the project reflects a commitment to urban regeneration and the health of the surrounding inhabitants.
