Rodrigo Velasco

An architect and urban planner whose practice lies at the intersection of territorial interpretation, systems thinking, and contemporary architectural development. He conceives of architecture as a dynamic and living process, capable of interpreting the potential of each place and transforming it through spatial decisions aimed at generating lasting relationships between people, context, and environment.

A graduate of the Universidad Iberoamericana with a master's degree in Urban Management and Transformation from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia , he was a recipient of the FONCA "Young Creators" grant in 2010-2011. He began his independent practice in 2007 and founded A/RV in 2010. In 2015, he co-founded El Asunto Urbano, a digital platform dedicated to art, architecture, and urbanism. Since 2021, he has been a partner at Archetika , a consultancy focused on architectural and urban strategies for real estate developers in Mexico and abroad.

His work combines professional practice, research, and teaching. He currently teaches at the School of Architecture at Universidad Iberoamericana in the Social Immersion Projects program and the Regenerative Thinking and Design Workshop, and has taught at the Faculty of Architecture at UNAM, CENTRO , and Universidad Anáhuac . He has exhibited his work in venues such as the Centro de las Artes de San Luis Potosí , the Biblioteca Vasconcelos , MUCA UNAM , and the International Architecture Biennial of Argentina .

He has developed projects in various cities in Mexico and abroad, including TL3 in Atizapán, CASTILLO in Tijuana, KUHA in Playa del Carmen, CALIFORNIA 16 in Coyoacán as part of the reconstruction after the 2017 earthquakes, CASA MDV in Puerto Morelos, developments in DNC Cancún and EDIFICIO TULUM in Quintana Roo, among others.
