Rodrigo Velasco

Rodrigo Velasco is an architect and urban planner, graduated from the Universidad Iberoamericana with a master's degree in City Management and Transformation from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia . He was the recipient of the FONCA “Young Creators” scholarship in the period 2010-2011. Since 2021, he is a partner at Archetika , a consultancy dedicated to real estate developers, where he serves as director of the architecture department, carrying out projects in Mexico and abroad.

 

He understands architecture as a device that goes beyond being a simple habitable object, generating deep relationships with the city. His approach focuses on seeing buildings as active tools that can contribute to the regeneration of communities, enhancing social and urban well-being through their interaction with the environment.

 

Throughout his professional career, he has developed projects in Mexico and abroad, with his most recent projects being: CASTILLO and CÁRDENAS in Tijuana, an apartment building in TULUM , the TIZIMIN project in CDMX, KUHA in Playa del Carmen, the CALIFORNIA 16 building in Coyoacán as part of the reconstruction of Mexico City after the 2017 earthquakes, and the CASALTA development in Tijuana, the CASA MDV project in Puerto Morelos, the MATAGALPA building, and the DNC buildings in Cancun, among others.

 

Rodrigo Velasco has been a professor at the Faculty of Architecture at UNAM and at the Faculty of Architecture at Anáhuac University . In addition, he has exhibited his work in places such as the San Luis Potosí Arts Center , the Vasconcelos Library , the MUCA on the UNAM campus, and the International Architecture Biennial of Argentina (BIA-AR) . He has given lectures both nationally and internationally, highlighting his presentation at the University of Arizona . Since 2021, he has been a professor at the Ibero-American University in the Social Immersion Projects cycle and the Regenerative Thinking and Design Workshop.

 

Currently, he is also co-director of the print and digital platform El Asunto Urbano , dedicated to art and urban planning, and has written for some media such as Lee+ , Inmobiliare , Arquine among other media where his work has been published .
