The purpose of this extension to the house in Avándaro is to create an intimate space that takes full advantage of the connection with the natural environment of Valle de Bravo through a light and harmonious structure, so that the users can enjoy the panoramic view of the lake and the vegetation, so that the main room functions as a regenerative refuge, integrating nature and comfort in an atmosphere of serenity.
Located in Avándaro, an area known for its mountainous setting and proximity to Lake Valle de Bravo, the house features an extension to the master bedroom area created by a roof extension. This structure is presented as a glass box oriented towards the best available view: the lake, surrounded by forests and mountains, in a temperate climate that varies between 12 and 22 °C throughout the year. The region is renowned for its abundant green spaces and biodiversity, elements that the intervention seeks to highlight and respect.
The glass box, which houses a bathtub, offers an immersive experience within the surrounding landscape. By allowing a panoramic view from the inside, the structure transforms the space into a private lookout where users can enjoy the natural light and the visual spectacle of the natural environment. This design choice connects the user directly and uninterruptedly with the landscape, creating an atmosphere of rest and contemplation.
The structure of the addition utilizes lightweight materials to minimize the weight on the existing structure and preserve the stability of the original house. The local stone finishes add a layer of visual integration with the surroundings, connecting the addition to the natural context and reinforcing its low-impact aesthetic. These local materials not only optimize the construction process but also reduce the project's environmental footprint by avoiding unnecessary transport and supporting the local economy through the use of locally sourced resources.
Regenerative Advantages and User Experience
This extension becomes a regenerative space, allowing residents to experience the tranquility and beauty of the landscape from the comfort of their home, thus promoting physical and mental well-being. The terrace, adjacent to the master bedroom, is designed to foster moments of connection with the surroundings, serving as a space for relaxation and appreciation of nature. The integration of natural elements into the interior design, such as the glass enclosure, allows for a complete sensory experience and helps to reduce the disconnection between the interior space and the natural environment.
The extension of this house in Avándaro uses environmentally conscious design and materials to provide a living experience that integrates the natural beauty of Valle de Bravo and a lifestyle that values regeneration and respect for the environment.
