This urban intervention project for the entrance to Torres Plácete, a residential complex built in the 1970s in Interlomas, State of Mexico, proposes a reconfiguration aimed at the social and environmental regeneration of the space, adapting it to current needs. The intervention incorporates strategies that optimize vehicular and pedestrian traffic, reducing risks and fostering a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment, for the benefit of the community and the immediate urban context.

The redesign is based on creating efficient and safe mobility flows, ensuring accessibility and minimizing interference between pedestrians and vehicles. To optimize the entry experience, vehicular access was reconfigured with organized entry and exit lanes, along with stopping zones and wide turning areas that allow for efficient flow and reduce congestion during peak traffic times. This avoids the environmental impact of vehicle buildup in terms of emissions and promotes a cleaner and more orderly environment.

Pedestrian mobility was redesigned according to safety and universal accessibility criteria, incorporating specific routes and non-slip materials that promote safe passage. These pedestrian routes are illuminated and distributed to facilitate fluid movement, minimizing risks and encouraging the use of the shared space. The inclusion of rest areas and gathering spaces at the entrance transforms this passageway into a place for social interaction, a public space where the community can connect and meet in comfort and safety.

From a regenerative perspective, this intervention considers not only functional elements but also aesthetic and material ones. The selection of low-maintenance, long-lasting materials minimizes the environmental footprint and ensures a contemporary aesthetic, in harmony with the principles of sustainability. The use of vegetation in the landscaping, as well as a palette of natural colors and textures, reinforces the visual connection with the urban environment of Interlomas, while giving the entrance a renewed character. This design aims to foster a responsible and meaningful interaction between the architectural space and its users, promoting sustainable practices and reducing environmental impact.

In conclusion, the access improvements in Torres Plácete represent an opportunity for urban regeneration, providing residents with a safe and modern environment that fosters social cohesion and community use of the space. This transformation reinforces the commitment to sustainability and urban regeneration, enhancing the well-being of the current and future community.
