The 12-apartment building on the corner of Matagalpa Street is designed to foster community life and the well-being of its residents, in such a way that social interaction and the shared use of spaces are promoted, so that residents can enjoy a dynamic and enriching environment that strengthens community ties.

The building's design is characterized by its functional layout that incorporates a central courtyard and a roof terrace, elements that are key to creating a habitable and socially active environment.

  1. Creating Spaces for Coexistence: The central courtyard acts as a hub for interaction, where residents can engage in social activities, cultivate gardens or simply relax outdoors. This open space becomes a meeting place, strengthening relationships between neighbors.

  2. Rooftop Utilization: The building’s rooftop will be designed as a community space that can host various activities, such as meetings, social events, or rest areas. This approach allows residents to enjoy panoramic views of the city and promotes a sense of belonging and community.

  3. Efficient and Functional Design: Each apartment is designed to maximize natural light and ventilation, creating comfortable and healthy environments for residents. Efficient design not only contributes to comfort, but also supports sustainable practices by reducing energy consumption.

The project for the building on Matagalpa Street incorporates regenerative strategies that benefit both residents and the urban environment. These measures are focused on promoting sustainability and the responsible use of resources.

  1. Promoting Social Cohesion: The central courtyard and rooftop act as catalysts for social interaction, promoting community activities that foster a sense of belonging and collaboration among residents. These social dynamics contribute to an environment of mutual support and solidarity.

  2. Integration of Natural Elements: The inclusion of green areas in the courtyard and on the roof will be considered, which not only improves air quality but also provides a space for urban biodiversity. The incorporation of vegetation contributes to the mitigation of the heat island effect in the city.

  3. Use of Local and Sustainable Materials: The building will be constructed using local and sustainable materials, reducing the carbon footprint associated with transportation and supporting the local economy. This approach not only promotes sustainability, but also respects and integrates with the cultural context of Mexico City.

  4. Energy Efficiency: Rainwater harvesting systems and rooftop solar panels will be implemented, allowing residents to utilize natural resources for irrigation of green areas and energy generation. This not only reduces resource consumption, but also promotes self-sufficiency.

The 12-apartment building on Matagalpa Street represents an innovative and regenerative approach to architectural design, where the inclusion of a central courtyard and a communal rooftop fosters social interaction and well-being for residents. Through the creation of shared spaces, the use of sustainable materials, and the promotion of social cohesion, the project establishes a housing model that not only enriches the lives of its inhabitants, but also contributes positively to the urban environment of Mexico City.
